24sata is a new and dynamic newspaper in Zagreb, Croatia, which is created by young and dynamic people. The environment in which the newspaper is created is fresh, dynamic and open.

Offices are divided into two larger units, whereby for the purpose of separating access each unit has its own vertical communication axe with a sanitary facility. The division of an individual unit is organised in a way that enables a maximum but controlled flow of information.

In the unified space of the offices there is the so called in-between space. As a backbone of the room this interspace serves as a corridor, performing the functions of connecting, uniting, dividing and storing. The open area of the offices serves as demarcation between the editorial and management offices. Along the corridor goes the main communication axe to which capillary paths are attached, leading to individual offices. These paths ensure the flow of creative and execution process of work. The necessary communication and control of information are provided by opening the in-between space. There are an open and closed common use areas situated along the main communication path, and are intended for group meetings, socialising, reading newspapers, visitors and similar. Beside these areas two reception counters are placed, which are linked to the vertical communication axe.

The backbone of the in-between space is designed in a form of a cupboard, composed of a skeletal frame (construction in the orange colour) and cover (glass with graphic design). The skeletal frame is intended for storing office supplies, archiving newspapers, using it as a wardrobe and so on. The membrane with graphic design permits visibility and prevents sound transmission. Diversity of graphics on both sides of the cupboard gives space the necessary dynamism, and at the same time functions as a steering system in that space.

Furniture is subordinate to space in terms of its appearance and function. The inconspicuous beige colour and two-level division provide for openness and transparency. In addition, two levels ensure privacy and transparency in an individual workplace. Colour additions, the corporate orange and silver borders, the padded drawers on which one can also sit comfortably, and the orange interior of the overdesk storage units create additional enthusiasm and connectedness.

With regard to spatial arrangement of furniture, and the interspace, as a basic element, and its semi-transparency, everyday work is accompanied also by the softly changing light, which reaches every single workplace. In this way the rhythm of newspaper production increases with the dynamics of the day.
